Yukon Joe Stories for Kid Survival and Kids of Survival

YUKON JOE STORIES - The following short stories are a contribute to Yukon Joe a Mountain Man who survived off of the
land and have been an inspiration to my children at bedtime.

Why Yukon Joe -

Yukon Joe traveled the mountainous wilderness a long time ago. He was the last of the rugged Mountain Men of his time.
His traveling companions were his loyal and trusty dog "Rusty" and his faithful donkey. Yukon Joe carried a backpack which
contained a bed roll, a tree saw, a shovel, cooking utensils, and water. He may have a change of clothing and occasionally left
over dried food stuff but he always caught or killed his food or ate from the vegetation of the land. He would also carry his
walking stick everywhere he went and a hunting knife made of deer horn and the best steel he could find. His donkey would carry
other essentials as necessary.

Yukon Joe's travels would always include beautiful views of the sunset and sunrise skies, various shades of trees, lustrous waters, and
challenging terrain. He would see many deer, bear, and other wild ferocious beasts along with rabbit, snakes, and lizards. He had
plenty to eat when he was hungry. He would snare a rabbit or catch a snake or scoop a fish with his bare hands. There was always
plenty of wild fruits to gather if you knew what to look for and where. He used his many years of living off the land to find what
he needed. His favorite pastime was painting the sights he saw on his travels.
